A new mod for Half-Life: Alyx recreates environments and assets from Half-Life 2 in VR, using the Source 2 engine. While the mod itself will be free of charge, gamers will need to own HL2 as well as HL2: Episode 1 and 2. We should also mention the new 3D interface designed specifically for VR, and the multiple VR locomotion methods. ![]() Other important additions include updated effects, textures, models & maps, as well as realistic weapon interactions. ![]() They all came together and managed to implement support for motion controllers, which is a pretty big step. The new team consists of both original members and fresh faces. Valve decided to stop updating the original mod’s Source engine in order to keep up with modern hardware, which is mainly what caused the project’s abandonment. Thanks to its recent updates, the project will be fully compatible with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
